Choosing the Correct Swim Lesson

Read the class descriptions! Start with your child’s age group. Read & find the skills your child can do. If your child has the skills listed, then register for that level. Remember, placing a child in the incorrect level will be a disservice to both the child and the other class members.

MONDAYS & WEDNESDAYS:
Session 1:  September 8 to September 29 (7 classes)
Session 2:  October 6 to October 29
Session 3:  November 3 to November 26
Session 4:  December 1 to December 17 (6 classes)
Session 5:  January 5 to January 28
Session 6:  February 2 to February 25
Session 7:  March 2 to March 25

TUESDAYS & THURSDAYS:
Session 1:  September 9 to September 30 (7 classes)
Session 2:  October 2 to October 28
Session 3:  November 4 to November 25 (7 classes)
Session 4:  December 2 to December 18 (6 classes)

SATURDAYS:

PRESCHOOL LESSONS

Ages: 3-6 years

Preschool classes are designed to build confidence and endurance, teach water safety, as well as water sports and games while allowing children to progress through the steps of learning how to swim. It is expected that a child will repeat a certain level multiple times until they are developmentally ready to move on. Parents are asked to remain outside the pool area to view lessons. Children must be 3 years of age prior to enrolling in preschool lessons. Student-instructor ratio is 5:1 for all levels. Lessons are 45 minute classes.

Pike Beginner level: little or no swimming experience

Eel: Must be willing to participate, comfortable in water and able to swim 5 feet on front, back & side

Ray: Must be able to jump into deep water & swim 15 feet on front, back & side

Starfish: Must be able to swim 30 feet on front, back & side

 

Parent/Child lessons

Ages: 6-36 months

This thirty-minute class takes place with parent and child in the water. You and your child will enjoy this class filled with songs, games and toys. Basic safety and swim skills such as kicking and blowing bubbles are part of this exciting program.

PROGRESSIVE LESSONS

Ages: 6-12 years

Progressive lessons will provide beginner water adjustment through advanced stroke development accompanied by skills in water safety, personal safety and an appreciation of water sports and games. Children must be 6 years of age prior to enrolling in the following levels. Student-instructor ratio is 6:1. Lessons are 45 minute classes.

Polliwog Beginner level: little or no swimming experience

Guppy: Must be able to swim 20 feet on front & back

Minnow: Must be able to swim 25 yards of rudimentary front & back crawl

Fish: Must be able to swim 25 yards of rudimentary front & back crawl, breaststroke, sidestroke & elementary backstroke

Flying Fish: Must be able to swim 50 yards of strokes in fish plus 25 yards of rudimentary butterfly (swim team readiness)

Shark: Must be able to swim 100 yards of strokes in fish & 50 yards of butterfly

ADULT/TEEN

Ages: 14 & Up

Open up to a whole new world! It is never too late to learn to swim, or if you are already a swimmer, to fine tune your strokes! This class provides a very relaxed, calm, lighthearted atmosphere in which we work at your pace. If you are apprehensive about being in water, we will work on skills that will gradually help you become comfortable in the pool. If it is stroke development you want to work on, we will show you drills to help you achieve a more efficient stroke.
