Land Fitness Class Descriptions
AeroTone: A mix of aerobic and toning exercise geared towards the beginner to intermediate exerciser. You will strengthen your heart with a great cardiovascular workout and tone your muscles with periods of toning with hand-held weights, tubes or dynabands.
*Beginner Belly Dancing-Looking for exercise that is fun, exciting and not the same old thing? Let us introduce you to the world of Belly Dance and put a little shimmy into your life. Belly Dancing is considered a great, low impact cardio workoutthat utilizes muscles in the abdomen, pelvis, trunk, spine and neck. It will help you lose weight, improve your posture, tone your muscles and reduce stress. Please wear form fitting exercise clothing and ballet shoes or go barefoot. Bring a scarf to tie around your waist.

Butts & Guts-30 minutes of intense muscles strength and endurance work targeting abs, hips, gluteus, hamstrings, quads, and lower back.
Performance Training-This fast-paced class is designed to improve coordination, balance, strength, power and agility. This advanced class will use some of the same drills and exercises that are used by professional athletes all over the world.
Power Train-An overall body shaping and firming class using weights, bars and plates, dynabands, tubing , stability balls, and the body’s own resistance to perform strength building exercises. The class will focus on a workout that can be challenging to fit all participants needs, whether a newcomer or someone who has exercised for years. Both the upper and lower body are emphasized during the workout as well as abdominal training and ending with an emphasis on flexibility.
Revolutions-Shift your workout into high gear with this exhilarating cycling class! Participants of all levels welcome-you control your own intensity level. You’ll burn calories like crazy while improving your cardiovascular endurance and building strength especially in the quadriceps, gluteus, hamstrings and calf muscles. Please arrive 10 minutes early to set up bike and bring a towel and water bottle. Members may sign up at the front desk for class 24 hours in advance and nonmembers 1 hour in advance. If not there when class starts your seat may be given away. If you fail to cancel twice you may not reserve a seat for 2 months.
SilverSneakers® Muscular Strength & Range of Movement (MSROM)-Have fun and move to the music through a variety of exercises designed to increase muscular strength, range of movement and activity for daily living skills. Hand-held weights, elastic tubing with handles, a SilverSneakers ball are offered for resistance and a chair is used for seated and/or standing support.
Step It Up-A class for the person who knows all of the basic step moves and is ready for a faster paced and more intense workout. After the warm up we will be moving in every direction over the step, sometimes 2 or 3 steps for 35-40 minutes and finish with a cool down and a short abdominal workout. This class will improve your cardiovascular fitness, decrease body fat, and burn calories. It will also improve your lower body muscular strength and endurance.
Strollercise-This class is a total body workout for new moms to do with their babies. It is conducted outside to take advantage of the environment and includes power walking and interval training using the weight of your baby and stroller for resistance. Strollercise is a fun way to get in your workout while bonding with your baby and other new moms! All you need to bring is you, your baby, and your stroller. Since the class is outside you may also want to bring water, sunscreen and a hat for you and your baby, and a towel or mat for ground exercise. Classes will meet at the main entrance of the YMCA weather permitting. You will still need to swipe your membership card at the front desk and sign in.
The First Step-A low intensity step aerobic class with basic choreography that may incorporate floor aerobics, or hand-held weights, followed by a short abdominal workout. You will get moving, burn calories, and strengthen your abs. Ideal for beginners or anyone who enjoys a slower pace.
Vinyasa Yoga-There are many different styles of Yoga. In Vinyasa style Yoga, we are going to focus on gaining and using flexibility, strength and balance in our bodies. We will do this through a series of poses and exercises that flow together to stretch, strengthen and empower our bodies. The benefits of Yoga include increased flexibility, decrease in stress, strengthening the body and better balance and posture.
Walk Aerobics-A fitness class that consists of weight bearing activities such as walking in place and low impact aerobic moves. The pace is geared to keep the heart rate in an aerobic range for at least thirty minutes. The class will then focus on stretching and strengthening using yoga and Pilate moves, followed by a quiet meditation time. Come join the fun!
Zumba®-A dance based fitness class that mixes body sculpting moves with easy to follow steps. Come join the party!
